Nature Green Compost Bins
How does this programme help the environment?

In recent Council surveys of the contents of rubbish bags, the results were: That almost 50% of our rubbish is compostable garden waste, this can be made into valuable compost, saving the need for unnatural fertilisers. We believe it is helping you and our environment because it save's our landfills and hefty transfer and dump charges. Remember Composting is recycling.

Waste Strategy

Under the New Zealand Waste Management Strategy by December 2005, 60 percent of garden wastes will be diverted from landfill and beneficially used.

How does this system work?

The Nature Green Compost Bin with the bright green lid is for compost only (garden waste, leaves, small prunings, weeds, grass and hedge clippings). Not dirt, paper, hot ashes, bones, shells, wood, branches thicker than your finger or any non-compostable materials. Compost bins are avaliable in the Tauranga District, Te Puke, Omokoroa & Katikati and in either small or large sizes.

Simply wheel your bin/s to the most convenient position on your property and fill them with your green waste and wheel your green bins out to the kerb on collection day by 7.30am. This weekly service and collection is done by two trucks, one for rubbish and the other compost only.
